What you see today didn’t come easy. In 2002, after planting our first church, our marriage nearly ended. Justin had an affair with a staff member who was also Trisha’s best friend. What followed was four years of deep pain, grief, counseling, and ultimately, restoration.
That season didn’t just change our marriage. It changed us. It gave us a lens through which we now see every relationship, with God, with each other, and with ourselves. In 2012, we founded what’s now RefineUs Ministries, with a simple mission: to help others experience transformation by building healthy, authentic relationships.
We coach individuals and couples. We speak in churches and at conferences. We write books, create resources, and build spaces where people can drop the masks and finally exhale. Whether you’re working through betrayal, emotional exhaustion, spiritual disconnection, or just trying to figure out what’s next, we walk with you.
Our story may be unique, but our struggles are not. That’s what makes this ministry personal.
We’re pastors, authors, and founders of RefineUs. We’ve been married for 30 years and live in Indianapolis with our five kids. We’re not perfect. We’re not interested in pretending. But we are passionate about helping others experience real healing and deeper connection.
We co-authored the best-selling book Beyond Ordinary: When a Good Marriage Just Isn't Good Enough. Justin also wrote the USA Today bestseller Being Real > Being Perfect. Our newest book, One Choice Away From Change, is available wherever books are sold.
